Video: Cibo Matto, ‘Deja Vu’

Sometimes reality, dreams and time cross paths in weird ways, and you’re left with some extremely trippy deja vu. NYC’s eccentric avant-psych/trip-hop duo Cibo Matto play on this experience in their music video for their track titled – you guessed it – “Deja Vu.” Directed by Jean Claude Billmaier, using a RGBD Toolkit and filmed with a Microsoft Xbox Kinect camera, Miho Hatori and Yuka C. Honda are swimming in special effects that certainly don’t answer their own lyrics: “Is it real? / Or is it dream?” Harmonies and hip-hop verses soundtrack the viewer’s ride through illusions, an experience we’re happy to have again with Cibo Matto after their 15-year-hiatus. The duo’s latest album “Hotel Valentine” is out now via Chimera Music, the label founded by Sean Lennon.
