Cibo Matto‘s video for their first single, “MFN” is colorful and avant-psychedelic, but that should be no surprise since they’ve worked with directors like Michel Gondry in the past for ’90s hits like “Sugar Water.” This new GEORGIA-directed clip brings the NYC-based Japanese duo – Miho Hatori and Yuka C. Honda – back from an 15-year hiatus and combines their old eccentricities with some modern flair. The single from their latest album “Hotel Valentine” features guest vocals from comedian Reggie Watts. Other guests that appear on this follow-up to 2009’s “Stereo Type A” include guitarist Nels Cline, drummer Glenn Kotsche, percussionist Mauro Refosco, trumpeter Michael Leonhart, trombonist Aaron Johnson, Douglas Wieselman and plenty of others. Cibo Mattos’ “Hotel Valentine” is out now via Chimera Music, the label founded by Sean Lennon.
