‣ Imelda May [pictured] the sultry, bluesy rockabilly siren whose new album “Tribal” comes out Sept. 23, plays the El Rey Theatre, supported by the Rhythm Shakers
‣ Foxygen [see their new video here] plays the first of three SoCal shows this week, headlining to the Fonda Theatre to beat the drum for their forthcoming new album “… And Star Power,” due in October.y.
‣ The free Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier returns in a big way, with La Santa Cecilia headlining and Sergio Mendoza supporting.
‣ The Skirball Center’s free Sunset Concerts series brings Tex-Mex accordion king Flaco Jiménez and and fellow Grammy winners Max Baca & Los Texmaniacs to the museum’s courtyard.
‣ Electro quartet Mansions on the Moon preview their forthcoming full-length at the Satellite, supported by Intergalactix, Bravesoul and Lena Fayre at the Satellite
‣ Veteran rocker Jesse Malin hits the Viper Room as part of a string of shows celebrating the Sunset Strip venue’s 21st-anniversary celebration. Louise Goffin supports.
‣ And new Stones Throw Records duo Silk Rhodes visit the Complex in Glendale, where Peanut Butter Wolf will also be on hand, along with DJ Sun Araw.
