Foster the People, who last week released the first single off their hotly anticipated sophomore album, will play a surprise, free show tonight. But where? The band posted a “stay tuned for details” announcement Tuesday via Twitter, and another this morning, and most of the likely venue suspects for surprise shows are booked tonight.

Not to jump to conclusions, but this morning some equipment and a handful of fans who said they were there for a “free show” arrived at a downtown parking lot (at 643 Los Angeles St.) where a mural was created to promote FTP’s new album “Supermodel” (out March 18 via Columbia Records). Stay tuned for more details.

Foster the People will play Coachella in April.
