Video: Foster the People, ‘Coming of Age’

Now that they’ve thoroughly pumped up everybody’s kicks, Foster the People are moving on to Act 2. The L.A. electro-pop breakouts announced today that their sophomore album “Supermodel” would be out on March 18 (via Columbia), or about four years, a bazillion (give or take) in album sales for “Torches” and three Grammy nominations since we first heard “Pumped Up Kicks.” Frontman Mark Foster penned those early tunes in his bedroom; the new songs were hatched in conjunction with producer Paul Epworth in Morocco. The new album was recorded a various studios in Los Angeles and London, and the first single from Foster and bandmates Cubbie Fink and Mark Pontius conveys a little of that wanderlust. In the video, “Coming of Age” is set to a time-lapse of the creation of a giant mural promoting the album in downtown Los Angeles. As promotional concepts go, it’s not 250,000 square feet of vinyl atop the Forum, but it’s an impressive piece of art.
