Montreal quintet Stars just released their album “The North” last year, but they’ve got a few more goodies for fans who are joining them on tour. To follow up the record, Stars released a limited-edition 7-inch with the A-side “Wishful” and the B-side “The Light” on the band’s Soft Revolution Records. Cut during the same session as “The North,” which was released by ATO Records, the two tracks have as much contrast as a yin and yang do. “Wishful” is another track featuring Amy Milan’s sweet, effervescent vocals soaring over dream-pop bass lines and a raucous pairing of guitar and synths. “The Light,” on the other hand, serves as its foil with its wistful electro arpeggios bouncing underneath Torquil Campbell’s contemplative tone. Once again, these guys get an A for emoting. Stars’ 7-inch “The Light” is out now.
