Coachella 2013: Stars, despite the sound woes

Coachella13-Stars

Who: Stars at the main stage.
In 3 or Fewer Words: Soundless Stars.
Memorable Because: Stars’ enthusiasm was there, but the sound guy for the main stage seemed to have his head somewhere else. The contrast between the stage and the sound board was so remarkable it was heartbreaking – but it wasn’t much of a surprise when it seemed hard for the stage manager to even get the sound guys’ attention during sound check. What was a surprise, however, was how low Torq Campbell’s mic was and how Amy Milan’s mic was still completely turned off until halfway through the first song. But aside from technical difficulties, the Montreal-based band was excited to return and they made the most of it. “I can’t believe we’re here!” shouted Campbell. “The dance party begins right f–king now!” Songs such as “We Don’t Want Your Body” pleased even those who were already pushing their way up for Metric and Passion Pit, but tunes such as “Your Ex-Lover is Dead” touched those long-time Stars fans. When a band writes a beautiful sing-a-long like that one, it’s hard to keep in mind that it’s about “the person you hate most in the world.”
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Were at Polica: So tell me about that Justin Vernon cameo, please?
