Back in 2013, while prepping for their 50-year aniversary tour, the legendary Rolling Stones pulled a surprise on Los Angeles, doing a surprise show at the Echoplex. It looks as if they might have another trick up their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sleeves.

Sources say that the Stones — as a warmup for their 15-date “Zip Code Tour” of North America — will do a surprise show Wednesday at the Fonda, although there is no official confirmation yet from the band. The gig was first reported on CaliforniaRocker.com, which noted that promoter Goldenvoice had moved the Shakey Graves show scheduled that night to the Belasco Theatre downtown.

The Stones this morning are doing an #AsktheStones Q&A on Twitter. There is speculation there might be an announcement then, although the last time the Stones did a surprise show, it was a day-of-show announcement.

The Stones’ offical tour kicks off May 24 at Petco Park in San Diego, the run’s only date in Southern California.
