The good stuff at Coachella on Saturday started early (bonus points if you were there before noon for Until the Ribbon Breaks) and ran late (a gold star if you carried on with Swans after midnight). In between on a warmer Day 2, there were: Jack White shredding the Main Stage; coming-out performances from the likes of Royal Blood, St. Paul and the Broken Bones and Glass Animals; dancey fun with Clean Bandit, Yelle and Kasabian; and Father John Misty, wanting to keep things dark and romantic at the Outdoor Theatre, lit mostly by a neon sign reading “No Photography.” Maybe fans even had time to check out the crazy art on the Coachella grounds, or make friends with the giant caterpillar? Following are our mini-reviews from Saturday sets by Kevin Bronson, Seraphina Lotkhamnga and Ben McShane.
