Video: Light FM, ‘Pointless’

Don’t be deceived by the very DIY video for “Pointless,” Light FM are total pros. The long-running indie-rock band helmed by singer/multi-instrumentalist/studio ace Josiah Mazzaschi this week added a new EP to a catalog that includes five full-lengths (the last, “Voices Inside My Head,” in 2013) and one EP. Currently working with a lineup that includes bassist Nicki Devlin and drummer Alexa Brinkschulte, Mazzaschi again finds a balance in what he calls “nugaze” between dense electronics, saturated guitars and synthesized vocals. The Rentals are an obvious reference point here; Mazzaschi never met a pop hook he couldn’t dirty up a little bit. “Pointless” came out on tuesday, and this year will find Light FM touring Europe for the first time.
