Like fellow blues revivalists the Record Company, Dreaming Bull bring a lot of blood, sweat and tears to the songs on their self-titled debut. And some old-time riffs and religion too. The band is the brainchild of veteran drummer-producer Gabe Rowland (Momma Stud, Guadalupe, the Peak Show) and singer-guitarist Nic Capelle, an Australian who moves on from the London-based hard-electro band that carried his surname to do a little time-traveling here. “Dreaming Bull” is like a mini-history lesson; Howlin Wolf, Little Richard and his gospel-tinted followers and early funksters like the Meters are reference points. Study up.
