Fresh off playing KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas, the Smashing Pumpkins announced this morning they would play a surprise show Tuesday night at the Fonda Theatre. The band, playing behind the new album “Monuments to an Elegy” (out last week), is touring with a lineup of founder Billy Corgan, longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Mark Stoermer of the Killers and Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today.
