Say Hi by Jenny Jimenez

It’s been a few years since Say Hi dropped the tail-end of the moniker (formerly Say Hi To Your Mom) and the decision continues to bodes well. Seattle-based Erik Elbogen has been at it since 2002 and the newest installment to his catalog “Endless Wonder,” released in June on Barsuk Records, is nothing short of indie excellence. “Hurt In The Morning” sets the album’s tone with bass-driven robotic synths while Elbogen’s vibrato appropriately muddles his tale of a one night stand, enhancing the rhythmic sway of the track. A fair crossing between the electronic minimalism of The Postal Service, Beck’s reflective reverb and Win Butler’s vocal depth, it’s alt-pop that is hard not to like.
