Entertainment behemoth Live Nation is taking over music programming four nights a week at the venerable Echo Park room Club Bahia, a longtime central L.A. hub for Latin music.

The venue, at 1130 W. Sunset Blvd., will be available for Live Nation-booked shows Monday through Thursday nights, said talent buyer Brandon Lavoie, who added that “we will be very selective in bringing in relevant indie/dance/pop acts both national and local. We’re not interested in simply filling the calendar with four shows each week, Instead, we plan to tastefully book events that make sense in that space as they become available.”

Live Nation has invested in renovation of the 400-capacity room’s lights, sound, stage and dressing rooms. “The venue has had a pretty substantial upgrade,” Lavoie said. For the time being, he added, Club Bahia, which opened in 1974, will continue to host Latin music shows on the weekends.

The first “Bahia Live” show will be Thursday, Dec. 11, with local dance-punk favorites De Lux headlining, supported by Gavin Turk and Lavashark. Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday.
