Video: Twin Peaks, ‘Making Breakfast’

Chicago-based four piece Twin Peaks (insert obligatory TV show joke here) have suddenly found themselves being billed as one of the vanguardists of a rock ”n’ roll revival, thanks to their sophomore album “Wild Onion.” Its growth and diversity build on the promise of 2013’s “Sunken,” which was recorded in frontman Cadien Lake James’ basement and skyrocketed the band into buzz-worthy territory. James, guitarist Clay Frankel, bassist Jack Dolan and drummer Connor Brodner spent a little more time developing their second album, exploring the sounds of classic guitar bands of the 1960s. Tall order for a group of 20-year-olds? Not really. Focusing on growing pains, often with satirical flair, and nostalgic undertones similar to Thee Oh Sees and the Black Lips, Twin Peaks provide a rollercoaster of guitar pop, psychedelic tendencies, and catchy hooks. Their new video for one of the highlight tracks on the album, “Making Breakfast,” was directed by their regular collaborator Ryan Ohm and boasts their gloriously odd sense of humor. Still stressed over who killed Laura Palmer (there it is!)? The “Making Breakfast” video will provide the perfect distraction … and the onset of scrambled egg cravings.
