Warpaint-19

Just when Warpaint fans thought their crush on the art L.A. quartet couldn’t get any more heavy-duty, Friday night happened. The band, finishing up a year of touring behind their second album (titled “Warpaint”), distributed glasses to the capacity crowd at the Echoplex that made the lights appear as psychedelic hearts. Then, after more than an hour of dreamy rock on a smoke-filled stage, Kurt Vile crashed the encore to provide backup vocals on “Baby.” Warpaint’s set was preceded by two artists who recently released EPs – Avid Dancer, whose retro-flavored guitar pop made it seem like date night (if it wasn’t already), and Son of Stan, whose horn-infused party rock got the good times rollin’.
