Video: Mayer Hawthorne, ‘The Stars Are Ours’

We’re feeling particularly exuberant at BBLA today despite it being a Monday. The sugar-high from all that Halloween candy may be to blame, or perhaps, getting into costumes and the holiday spirit simply left us with a few sentimental memories. If you’re in the same boat, then Mayer Hawthorne‘s latest Pharrell Williams-produced single “The Stars Are Ours” could be today’s anthem. With lyrics like “We’re breaking all the rules / ‘Cause they’re getting in the way / And we’ll never be as young as we are today” soundtracking footage of teenagers playing telephone, rolling down grassy hills, eating hot dogs and fries and more together – all moments directed by Hawthorne’s 13-year-old- cousin Jake Primak, by the way – it’s hard not to reminisce about the simpler days of our youth. Mayer Hawthorne’s latest album “Where Does This Door Go” is out now via Universal Republic Records.
