Local Natives headline the first day of the Way Over Yonder festival, the Newport Folk Festival’s West Coast foray being held at the Santa Monica Pier. Slash feature Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators close out a three-show week celebrating the new album “World on Fire” with a show at the Whisky a Go Go.
‣ Long Beach quarter Rival Sons bring their Zep-style classic rock to the Troubadour, supported by the Soft White Sixties and Sir Madam. Above, the video for “Open My Eyes” from Rival Son’s latest album “Great Western Valkyrie.”
‣ With a new EP titled “Dig the Classics” out next Tuesday, Jeff the Brotherhood rocks the Echo, supported by fellow Nashville trio Music Band and L.A.’s Colleen Green.
‣ And reunited Bay Area indie-rockers the Aislers Set, whose three albums from 1998 to 2004 are being reissued this fall, play the Echoplex, supported by Dream Boys and the Mantles.
