‣ Echo Park Rising, ballooning to three days this year, kicks off with free shows at more that a dozen venues around the neighborhood, with Allah-Las, Woods and Crystal Skulls highlighting the outdoor stage at Taix and a great cast of local bands making noise elsewhere. ‣ Fool’s Gold, hard at work on their third album, headlines Week 5 of the free Figat7th Downtown Festival, with Deradorian supporting. Set times: 8 and 9 p.m.
‣ It’s Grouplove, Portugal. The Man and Tokyo Police Club at the Greek Theatre. Above, Grouplove’s video for “I’m With You.”
‣ Superchunk rocks the Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock. Mike Krol opens.
