The pool-party pop of Melbourne-bred, L.A.-based duo Wunder Wunder figures to make a big splash next week when their debut full-length “Everything Infinite” is released via Dovecote Records. The work of Aussie transplants Aaron Shanahan and Benjamin Plant (both of Miami Horror), the album lives up to its title with purely visceral expansiveness, inspired, its creators say, by Los Angeles, which, if nothing else, represents a city of possibilities. Says Shanahan: “L.A. is a dreamy place, almost surreal. It has continuous unspoilt skies and pastel sunsets, a backdrop of palm trees, and interesting people and houses stemming from many backgrounds in a wash of variety.” Wunder Wunder articulates these notions with bright melodies and harmonies, warped-by-the-sun guitars and synths and unbowed-by-traffic-jams rhythms. A watercolor in motion, even in “Midnight Hours.” [Stream the whole album here.]
