Jane’s Addiction, Empire of the Sun to headline Sunset Strip Music Festival on Sept. 20 and 21

Sunset Strip icons Jane’s Addiction and Australian electro/metal showmen Empire of the Sun will co-headline the seventh annual Sunset Strip Music Festival – which moves to two days this year, Sept. 20 and 21, in West Hollywood.

With original members Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins, Jane’s Addiction will mark the 25th anniversary of its debut “Nothing’s Shocking” by playing the album in its entirety on Saturday. The band is receiving this year’s Elmer Valentine Award, which celebrates the legacy of the Strip, joining past honorees Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Mötley Crüe, the Doors and Joan Jett. The award’s ceremony is Friday night at the House of Blues.

Then SSMF takes to Sunset Boulevard for the weekend, with Jane’s Addiction being joined on Saturday by Failure, Cold War Kids, ††† (Crosses), Minus the Bear, Kaiser Chiefs,trhe Birds of Satan, Nightmare and the Cat, Beware of Darkness and Say Say. On Sunday, the Empire of the Sun takes over, supported by Mayer Hawthorne, Iration, Big Data, Tove Lo, Big Freedia, We Came as Romans, Nostalghia and Fenech-Soler.

Single-day admission is $75; a two-day pass is $125. Tickets are available here.

The festival runs from 2 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, 2 to 10 on Sunday. The Roxy, the Whisky and the Viper Room will also host side stages; lineups have yet to be announced.
