Indie-pop siren Madi Diaz will be joined by anthem-bearing sextet Afternoons and rock quartets Eastern Conference Champions and Francisco the Man at the July installment of Chinatown Summer Nights. The free, all-ages show near Chinatown’s Central Plaza, which kicks off a 6 p.m. on July 12, also features Black Apples and Wet & Reckless.

All six artists on the evening’s LA Weekly Live Music Stage have new releases coming in the second half of this year. The Pennsylvania-bred, Berklee College-educated Diaz has a new album titled “Phantom” in the works for Nettwerk. Black Apples’ “Patio” is due this summer, while ECC, Afternoons, Francisco the Man and Wet & Reckless have new songs at the ready.

Chinatown Summer Nights is co-presented by KCRW, and the entertainment on July 12 includes DJ sets from Jason Bentley and Liza Richardson at the dance stage – as well as a host of family and cultural activities, including art and artisan displays, interactive drawing, a culinary stage, food trucks and a craft beer garden (conveniently located opposite the Live Music Stage).
