Originally hailing from Cardiff, England, the downtempo electro-R&B band Until the Ribbon Breaks recently relocated to Los Angeles to work on their forthcoming debut album. The trio of Pete Lawrie-Winfield (lead vocals, keys, percussion, and brass), Elliot Wall (drums), and James Wolujewicz (synth) also signed to Republic Records, who touts their sound as “bursting with big beats, delicate lyricism, intricate harmonies and interesting layers, altogether offering a haze of gritty synth, piano, and other weirdly wonderful melodies.” They’ve been busy in the last year, having guested on the Run the Jewels track “Job Well Done,” remixed Phantogram’s “Fall in Love” and Sam Smith’s “Nirvana,” and toured with Delorean and Lorde. In January, they will release the full-length “A Lesson Unlearnt,” which boasts “A Taste of Silver.”
