The masked marvels in the Moth & the Flame’s video for “How We Woke Up” are but a subtle reminder to watch out for the Utah-bred, L.A.-based trio’s full-length album later this year. The band – singer-guitarist Brandon Robbins, keyboardist-singer Mark Garbett and drummer Andrew Tolman – immediately turned heads last fall with the release of their Joey Waronker-produced EP “&,” and have continued work on an album with producer Peter Katis (The National, Frightened Rabbit, Jonsi). Their knack for rhythmically restless songs that combine deep grooves and moody atmospherics has sufficiently stoked our anticipation.
