Video premiere: VUM, ‘We’re Going’

On their sophomore album “Psychotropic Jukebox,” L.A. art-rock trio VUM dwell in a foreboding world of hums, whirrs and rumbles where incantation is the official language and narcosis is the national pastime. Now the trio of Jennifer Pearl, Christopher Badger and Scott Spaulding have found a collaborator in Kansas City artist Barry Anderson, who has created a video for the song “We’re Going.” Anderson works in video, animation, photography and sound, exploring themes of identity, habitat, geological time and adolescent mythology. Anderson’s second exhibition in his narrative “The Janus Restraint” opens Saturday in Los Angeles, with parts featuring the music of VUM (who will perform at the opening reception). Headphones on for this one.
