Especially considering the band’s youth, the Vim Dicta possess unique, no-holds-barred take on the psychedelic blues. The trio’s “Von Tango” EP, released last fall, is as white-knuckle fearless as any heavy music that’s come out of L.A. in recent memory, and in director Katie Rose, the trio of Cori Elliott, Matt Tunney and Chris Infusino have found a visual storyteller on par with their musical vision. In short, Rose’s video for “Point Blank” is intense. Really intense. Elliott is on the run here from an evil triumvirate played by her two bandmates and Nathalie Love, as “Sister.” The torture scene is not for the faint of heart, and after all her running, all her pain and all her duress, Elliott’s wailed chorus “I will not become you” becomes a hollow plea. Sometimes, there is simply no escape.
