The folk revival shows no signs of abating. And the newly hot Jamestown Revival, name-checked this week by KCRW’s Jason Bentley as an L.A. artist to watch, are bidding to become this year’s Lumineers. The brainchild of native small-town Texans Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance, Jamestown Revival makes earnest, autobiographical tunes with winsome harmonies, all of which were on full display on last fall’s “California” EP. It’s not the finely honed craft of the Milk Carton Kids, but not the folk-cum-emo of the Mumfords, either. Their forthcoming full-length, “Utah” (due Feb. 11), was recorded in a log cabin the remote Wasatch Mountains of that state. Get backwoodsy at your own discretion.
