Ears Wide Open: Santoros

Santoros

If you’ve been following the Growlers and/or Mystic Braves (f/k/a Blackfeet Braves), then you might want to add Santoros to the batch of bands who combine garage, surf, psych and rockabilly into their own party music. And if you haven’t run into the L.A.-based septet yet, it’s bound to happen sooner or later since they’re continuously playing shows around town in support of their EP “Ancestros.” Although eight tracks is rather lengthy for an EP, Santoros’ debut rolls and rocks in all the right places. From the jangly “If You Wanna Be My Girl” to the electro-infused jaunty “Ancestors,” there are plenty of choruses and guitar licks that stick. An ambitious teaser to a full-length is a good sign here.
