Cherry Glazerr trade in raw, lo-fi pop and cherubic charm, the latter quality mostly responsible for their quick rise, in less than two years, through L.A.’s garage-pop ranks. Yes, they derive their name from NPR journalist Chery Glaser (who doesn’t mind), and, yes, they’ve released music via Burger on those landfill-contaminating trinkets known as cassette tapes. The trio of singer-guitarist Clementine Creevy, bassist Sean Redman and drummer Hannah Uribe, who’ve been mentored by Paige Stark (aka Lucy Miyaki of Tashaki Miyaki) and recorded with Joel Jerome (aka Joel Morales of Dios), gained some notice when their hazy, minute-and-a-half “Trick or Treat Dancefloor” (off March’s “Papa Cremp”) was used in a national ad campaign. Now they have announced that a new album “Haxel Princess” will come out Jan. 14; the title track is a little more riot grrl than their early songs. Cherry Glazerr’s is a story still developing but one that bears following.
