Say Lou Lou

Here’s something deliciously shimmering for your Friday morning. Swedish-Australian duo Say Lou Lou, comprised of twin sisters Miranda and Elektra Kilbey, are back with two more melancholy-filled electro-pop tunes in anticipation of their forthcoming debut slated for release in 2014. Following up the success of their “Julian” EP, which boasted the title track and “Fool of Me” (featuring fellow Australian electronic musician Chet Faker), their “Better in the Dark” EP once again presents those honeyed, bright vocals from the Kilbey sisters, but they’ve also sped up the tempos and lifted the choruses with melodies that are a bit more optimistic. While “Beloved” still questions a lover, the title track “Better in the Dark” is more of a declaration after some clarity. Never mind the time they had to quickly re-brand themselves (they were initially going by Saint Lou Lou until they came across trademark issues); Say Lou Lou continues to tug on the heartstrings with their songs. The “Better in the Dark” EP is slated for a Dec. 16 release via Columbia Records.
