Gallery: Sunday at Treasure Island Music Festival

Beck 4

It was fitting on Sunday at the Treasure Island Music Festival that U.K. quartet Palma Violets opened their set with a cover of “California Sun,” the song the Rivieras made a hit in 1964. There was sun at the festival, but it wasn’t very warm. The entire crowd had learned Saturday that there was a chill in the air, but temperatures dipped even more for Day 2, when L.A. quartet Haim did its best to steal the show (and judging from the shrieking fans before the set, they might have). “It is so f*cking cold,” said Brian King of Vancouver’s Japandroids, and when Canadians compare the weather to a ski resort, there might be something to it. Beck, Animal Collective, James Blake and Sleigh Bells topped the bill, which included L.A. entries IO Echo, Lord Huron and Cayucas as well. At one point during his night set, Beck said he couldn’t feel his hands. Brr.
