The Warlocks sounded like the next big psych-rock giants – or at least worthy successors to Spiritualized – a decade ago when they released the druggy, dynamite “The Phoenix Album” (2002) and followed it up a couple years later with “Surgery,” for Mute. While a cloud of other bands emerged to engage in psychedelic and sometimes psychotic explorations, the output from singer-guitar Bobby Hecksher and his rotating cast became more erratic. But for the past two years, Hecksher – now joined by guitarists JC Rees and Earl V. Miller, bassist Chris DiPino and drummer George Serrano – has been back at it. And today the Warlocks announced that their eighth album, “Skull Worship,” would be out Nov. 26. Get your drone on with the opening track, “Dead Generation.”
