We Barbarians, the Long-Beach bred rockers who released a full-length and three EPs over six years, are disbanding after this weekend’s shows in Los Angeles. They open tonight’s shows with their longtime friends Cold War Kids at the Wiltern and on Friday night play an art show (featuring the work of Cold War Kids bassist Matt Maust) at the Paul Loya Gallery, 2677 S. La Cienega Blvd.

The trio –David Quon, Derek Van Heule and Nathan Warkentin – moved from southern California to New York City in 2011. In a statement on their website today, the band said, “It’s an appropriate time to put a bookend to what we have done as a band. It’s always hard embracing change and wondering what will come from it. … We have taken great pride in being a band and forming something that allowed us to share so many experiences together.

“We will forever be grateful to the people who connected with and supported our art.”
