‣ Big day for Grouplove: The L.A. quintet’s sophomore album “Spreading Rumours” comes out today, and they headline a sold-out show at the Troubadour tonight. In addition, a pop-up gallery featuring the art of Grouplove’s Hannah Hooper opens at 4414 W. 2nd St. (Get details on the exhibition, “I’m With You,” here.) The video for “Borderlines and Aliens,” above, was animated by NYC’s Ace & Son from Hooper’s artowrk.
‣ Long-running synth-pop band Berlin, its seventh album “Animal” out today, does a gig at the Grammy Museum.
King Krule, the nom de tune of British teenager Archy Marshall, does the first of two nights at the Echo behind his debut album “6 Feet Beneath the Moon.” Ratking opens.
‣ Athens, Ga., metalheads Valient Thorr headline the Roxy Theatre behind their new album “Our Own Masters.” Lordy Dying, Ramming Speed, Black Belt Karate and Bend Sinister round out the night.
The Weeknd is back for a second night at the Greek Theatre, along with Banks and Anna Lunoe.
‣ British soul singer Laura Mvula headlines the El Rey Theatre, with L.A. trio KING supporting.
‣ And Butch Walker has a busy day – the documentary “Butch Walker: Out of Focus” premieres at the Laemmele (9036 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills), and then the singer-songwriter does a sold-out show at the Bootleg Theater, with Yellow Marbles opening.
