Electro-pop campaigners YACHT were typically a spectacle on Thursday night at the Troubadour, drawing a big crowd into their world, their beliefs system and their unified cry for utopian state. After their performance, it is hard to think LA without Shangri-LA. Their encore featured their release, “Party at the NSA,” which singer Claire Evans explained despite the shift in this week’s news headlines, is still an important issue. With this band, hypnotic entertainment and an insatiable desire to dance come right along a lesson in American politics.

The performance was part of a monthly series staged by Red Bull and featured Echo Park sextet NO, coming off a seemingly nonstop stream of shows, as well as art-rockers James Supercave and L.A.-via-Portland musician Adam Forkner, doing business at White Rainbow.
