Video: Andrew Stockdale, ‘Long Way to Go’

What’s in a name? Plenty, it turns out. In March, Australian singer-guitarist Andrew Stockdale announced that he was dispensing with the name Wolfmother – the band he had fronted during a checkered, decade-long period that included the 2007 Grammy Award for best hard rock performance. A new album, an hour-long, 17-track stoner behemoth, had been recorded twice with two different lineups, and that album, “Keep Moving,” was released in June under Stockdale’s name, accompanied by an announcement we would embark on his first solo tour. The latter news apparently was met with the sound of crickets. So, presto, the planned Stockdale dates became Wolfmother dates. And everybody who loved “Woman” in 2007 and Stockdale’s heavy psychedelia in general, is giddy with excitement. We supposed these shows won’t be too much different than the past – Wolfmother performing Andrew Stockdale songs. Long live shredders.
