Let’s start a discussion group. Let’s stop shelving our minds in favor of Day-Glo dreams. Let’s start thinking about what we’re doing. Let’s stop pandering to the lowest common denominator in favor of three minutes of ecstasy. Let’s start embracing a higher purpose. Let’s stop thinking that embracing a high purpose is too much work. Let’s start with the manifesto put forth by Savages frontwoman Jehnny Beth in this video for the U.K. post-punk quartet’s song “Shut Up.” Yeah, let’s start there.
