If you’ve ever seen the two-man terror that is El Ten Eleven, this will break your heart.

All the duo’s gear – including Kristian Dunn’s prized Carvin doubleneck bass guitar, his Wal fretless bass and two boards filled with dozens of looping and effects pedals, as well as most of drummer Tim Fogarty’s drum kit – was stolen Tuesday in a brazen daylight caper. Thieves broke into the band’s van as it was parked in front of an Atwater Village rehearsal space.

The theft came as the instrumental rock duo was preparing to start a two-month, 40-date tour that included stops May 4 at the Fonda Theatre and May 5 at the El Rey. The band still plans to tour, and today, in an effort to raise funds for new gear, they launched a pre-order of their forthcoming remix LP, “Transitions Remixed,” due April 9, which features remixes by such acts as Com Truise, Slow Magic, Max Tundra, D33J, Amp Live (of Zion I), Steed Lord and more.
