Mystery men Sir Sly appeared out of the ether last year with smoove slices of currently chic electro R&B titled “Ghost” and “Found You Out,” leaked on the Internet and widely embraced by the same fans who are bear-hugging bands like The Neighbourhood and Wildcat! Wildcat! It turns out Sir Sly (which was sometimes rendered as Sr. Sly) are the L.A. trio of Landon Jacobs, Jason Suwito and Hayden Coplen, who only got together last summer and found some immediate chemistry. Recording in Suwito’s studio in Costa Mesa, the threesome craft vaguely nostalgic, romantic tunes built around Jacobs’ winsome tenor. Today they unveiled “Gold,” the song that will be the B-side to “Ghost” on a 7-inch to be released via Neon Gold. Digital release is next week. If currently chic electro R&B isn’t over by then.
