Video: Drug Cabin, ‘Whatever Never’

Drug Cabin, whom we introduced back in June, gets a visual interpretation from director Kevin Willis for “Whatever Never,” and it’s as playful as the sunny psych-pop song itself. And if the mix of stop motion, clay animation and live acting looks familiar, it’s because Willis also directed Modest Mouse’s “Satellite Skin” and the Grammy-nominated video for Tool’s “Stinkfest” (among other videos for the same band). The clip is deliriously warped in the same upbeat manner of the song, but is an interesting watch considering the storyline is an expression of Willis’ distraught over a lost cat in the past. Never mind the actual meaning of the song, the jaunty nature of the video blends well with the melancholic melodies.
