Download: Francisco the Man, ‘Tiger’

It was back in April of 2011 that Francisco the Man self-released its single “Broken Arrows,” planting its 6 1/2 minutes of guitar splendor high on Buzz Bands LA’s year-end song list and raising a pertinent question: Why doesn’t the L.A. indie-rock quartet get more music out? Well, the foursome of Scotty Cantino, Néstor Romero, Abdeel Ortega and Brock Woolsey is working on it. First up is a tighter but no-less-shimmering single “Tiger,” which comes out next week as a 7-inch on Small Plates (also home to Hands’ recent “Massive Context” EP). “Tiger’s” muscular underbelly leaves plenty of sonic space for Cantino’s voice and FTM’s signature atmospherics. With precious little for straight-up indie-rock fans to rally around recently, Francisco the Man carries the torch. And “Broken Arrows” get a makeover for the 7-inch’s B-side.
