[A quick preview of your weekend with these three bands…]

Milo Greene, “Take a Step” – After a successful residency in their hometown and a massive national tour with the Civil Wars, L.A. folk and pop-rock quintet Milo Greene is preparing for the release of their self-titled debut by keeping busy on stage and sharing some new tunes. Another gorgeous track off the record (out July 17 on Chop Shop and Atlantic Records), “Take a Step” beckons again with spiraling harmonies and gentle rhythms. Milo Greene plays Saturday at the Troubadour with Little Hurricane and Harriet.

Mrs. Magician, “There Is No God” – Do what you will with the actual message of the track, but San Diego’s Mrs. Magician (with no actual Mrs or Miss in the group) has a way of twisting salty lyrics with a sunny ’70s take. Pop-heavy in melody but punchy with their punk-fuzz, the rest of their album “Strange Heaven” (out now on Swami) has more of the same kick. Mrs. Magician plays Friday at the Troubadour with Matt Skiba & the Sekrets.

Sonnymoon, “Wild Rumpus” – If you’re in need of melodies that warble, loop and tick, then Sonnymoon’s tribal yet spacey tunes from their self-titled debut (out now on Plug Research) may be your fix for music that comes with those peculiar glitches. Members Anna and Dane will play as Sonnymoon Friday at the Echo with Jonti, Devonwho, Knxwledge, MNDSGN and B Lewis.
