Ears Wide Open: The Open Feel

Dream-pop comes in a variety of textures, with feather-light synths at one end of the spectrum and heavy bass lines on the other. Katie Harris and Tom Brayton of L.A. band the Open Feel offer alternative rock with a slight splash of atmospherics, an unbalanced formula that works in smoldering mantras you might’ve heard in the ’90s. Harris’ tone is a bit on the bright side, but they have enough color for the vocals to dance around the percussion and melodic battles between the guitar and bass in songs like “Still Here.” Their self-titled EP is out now via Fluid Music Entertainment.
