Video: Thurston Moore, ‘Circulation’

Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore has been keeping busy with plenty of tour dates since the release of his third solo studio album. Produced by Beck (who also provided synths and drumming on the record), “Demolished Thoughts” is surprisingly a bit more acoustic and folk-oriented. However, the energy within these tracks should not be underestimated; the songwriting is meticulous and majestically unpolished in a style only a collaboration of this magnitude could pull off. Just because Moore isn’t screaming about teenage riots doesn’t mean he’s slacking in vigor. “Circulation” swells with rich strings and power chords that all appropriately soundtrack an oddly intimate story about female anatomy and its functions. However, other songs such as “Benediction” do touch on the spectrum where slow, melodic ballads can be found.
