Australia-bred Andy Clockwise has proven himself equal parts barroom rocker and hopeless romantic. His live shows – which have earned him a following in both L.A.s, the Eastside and Westside – have been sweaty affairs, the roguishly charming singer channeling pop star, punk rocker and soul man all in the space of a few minutes. No matter his persona, Clockwise’s songs possess a formidable observational bite. As he prepares his sure-to-be-genre-hopping first full-length, “The Socialite,” Clockwise is releasing the four-song “Love and War” for free. Stashed on that EP is the track “The Socialite,” featuring Illinois-born, California-based folkie Lissie. The song, Clockwise says, originated from a songwriting session he did Down Under a few years ago with New Zealand indie icon Chris Knox. Clockwise met Lissie through matriculating into the Beachwood Rockers Society, a loose group of musicians that do collaborative nights at Crane’s Hollywood Tavern. The result? Pretty sweet.
