[Wow, Katy Perry turns 24 on Saturday — maybe she’ll jump into her cake. Wait, she already did?]

monolators-eliTonight: I’m going to keep this short, because otherwise I’ll spend too many words making fun of guys who sell out two nights at the Fonda because they can “play” their laptops. … Just in time for Nov. 4, the Presidents of the United States of America hit town tonight (and I like garagey dudes the Blakes, who are opening). … Foreigner? $55? … Chill out, the Acorn play Spaceland [download: “Crooked Legs”].

Saturday: It’s the Monolators’ record-release party for “Don’t Dance” at Spaceland [photo of Eli Chartkoff holding forth at the recent Detour Festival]. … Couple guys from the neighborhood who like the hard stuff — they’re Finch fans — are geeked out about the So Cal Rock Revolution festival at the Hollywood Park Casino; there’s a lot on the bill there. … The Golden Animals play a warehouse gig at Little Radio. … And the very good twinbill of the Mountain Goats and Kaki King play the first of two nights at the Troubadour.

Sunday: Betcha Dave Brubeck will sound great here.
