Anybody who’s hovered over a keyboard or stared at the frets on a guitar can relate to the protagonist in director Johnny Coffeen’s video for “Anxiété,” the new single from Inland Empire quartet Naive Thieves. In fact, Naive Thieves can probably relate the best. The foursome – Levi Audette, Jaron Eldon, Kyle Garcia and Cameron Thorne – released a catchy EP “Le Sheik Rhat” in 2011 but have been stuck in neutral ever since. That’s because drummer Eldon has been sidelined by a gastrointestinal illness that has restricted his activities. The new single snaps with the tropical pop flavors of SoCal artists such as Fool’s Gold and the Little Ones. That Naive Thieves chose to convey their neuroses in en français? Magnifique.
