Who:Â Rudimental in the Mojave Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words:Â Felt the love
Memorable Because: And the award for the best daytime set of Sunday at Coachella Weekend 1 goes to London’s soulful live drum-and-bass collective Rudimental. Not only was their entrance to the stage entertaining (all four members, Piers Agget, Kesi Dryden, Amir Amor and DJ Locksmith, jumped onto stage with a trumpet blaring), but it was a rowdy celebration from beginning to end. “We’ve been waiting a lifetime for this, ” shouted DJ Locksmith, to which the bouncing tent screamed in response. With a dynamite energy, three vocalists worked the crowd during the collective’s most inspiring hits like “Not Giving In,” “Waiting All Night,” “Right Here” and “Free.” Horns and hysteria, Rudimental pleased fans even more by covering a bit of Fugees’ “Ready or Not” – and they brought John Newman (who would be on later next door in the Gobi Tent) out for “Feel the Love.”
