By now you might know the backstory of Run River North, the folk-pop sextet formed in the Valley and first known as Monsters Calling Home. The members’ common bond was that they were all progeny of families who had moved from Asia to southern California and attended the same church. And they sang some pretty nice harmonies too. Then they made a video for “Fight to Keep” in their Hondas, and the car company picked up on it and last fall surprised the band by placing them on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”  They’ve since signed with Nettwerk Records, and this week they announced their self-titled debut, produced by Phil Ek, would be out Feb. 25. As they explained on a recent NPR Weekend Edition, the album is the embodiment of the American dreams of their parents, filtered through the music the young generation learned here. The album version of that original song recorded in their Hondas, “Fight to Keep,” retains all that is earnest about Run River North, adding a sprinkling of California sunshine.
