Ears Wide Open: Future Fix

If this were 1998, we might call young Costa Mesa rockers Future Fix a “modern rock” band. And they’d be the next Killers and be destined for arenas. But the album in the works from Evan Ambrose, Aaron Andersen, Arie Tidwell, Dale Dimapindan is only a little bit Brandon Flowers – Future Fix dives into the soulful swagger of Brit-rock heroes from the 1990s, the outsized hooks of FM radio regulars ever since and the four-on-the-floor proclivities of last decade’s post-punk revivalists. As with many bands who obviously harbor Big Rock aspirations, Future Fix can lay it thick at times; then again, maybe you’re finding your favorite “indie” band isn’t laying it on thick enough.
